about

Mark and I wrote this song in June 2021 when it felt like we could see the light at the end of the COVID tunnel. While Delta didn't entirely rain out that ballgame, it certainly made the grass more slippery. Still, the summer of 21' feels a lot more more fun than the year before so the hopefulness of this song still feels real. We've co-written a lot of songs, but this is our first time recording together.

The idea for the song came from a line in my notebook, 'she's making the most of summer', and a little way into working on it Mark said 'this reminds me of your daughter Gwen'. A couple of other folks said it too. Still in her 20's, Gwen has managed to travel all over the world, often living in another country for months at a time, and often not knowing a soul before she gets there. She also manages to do it an a shoestring budget and leaves having friends everywhere she goes. That's her running across the salt flats in Bolivia in the cover photo. This song is not about her, but there is a lot of her in the song. So here's to you Gwen. May your fire for adventure continue to burn bright.
